Idaho:  Gov. Otter yesterday became the new vice chairman of the Western Governors Association

New Jersey:  The AFL-CIO endorsed Corzine.  Republicans in the New Jersey Assembly plan to express their opposition to Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine's proposed $28.6 billion budget on Thursday by channeling the voices of disgruntled taxpayers in their home districts. The arts community accuses the budget of employing fuzzy accounting. The state's $28.6 billion budget, which could be approved by the Legislature as early as today, includes an estimated $75 million to be raised from a tax increase on health and dental plans. A judge refused to dismiss the conviction of a former state senator prosecuted by Christie. Another state senator prosecuted by Christie returned to New Jersey to serve out his term.

South Carolina:  Gov. Sanford appeared on Hannity last night to discuss Washington’s financial recklessness and the SC Supreme Court’s decision to force him to accept the stimulus money.  

Virginia: Virginia businesses graded Deeds on how business friendly he is. National Review points out he had a lifetime D-.  The Surry Coal Plant remains a hot button issue. Newt Gingrich's American Solutions sent letters to gubernatorial candidates Creigh Deeds and Bob McDonnell asking them to oppose a federal proposal that the groups says would establish a national tax system on energy.

RGA:  The New York Times reports on the Republican Governors Association’s new television advertisements that take aim at New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine.  The New York Times analyzes the New Jersey ad just released by the RGA.  

New Jersey:  Jon Corzine and Chris Christie made their first joint appearance of the gubernatorial campaign last night at a NJ Business and Industry Association dinner..  The Philadelphia Inquirer reports on the candidates’ campaign kick off last night.  PolitickerNJ reports on a press release that says Corzine is using Bergen County taxpayers as a person piggy bank.  

Texas:  Gov. Perry yesterday signed a bill that will cut taxes for small businesses across the state.  

Virginia:  The News Virginian reports on legislative ratings from the Virginia Foundation of Research and Economic Education.  McDonnell says if elected he will look for budget cuts within the Transportation Department and the state’s Medicaid agency.  The Fairfax County Times reports that both campaigns are ready to fight for Northern Virginia.  Pajamas Media reports on the Christie and McDonnell campaigns.

New Jersey:  White House officials express concern about Corzine’s reelection bid. Democratic State Senator Sandra Cunningham says Corzine will be a hard sell in his re-election bid.  The Washington Times reports that the New Jersey GOP believes Corzine is vulnerable in his bid for re-election.  NJ GOP leaders are slamming “gimmicks” in Corzine’s budget proposals

Virginia:  Bob McDonnell has received support from some Mark Warner backers who formed a group called “Virginians for McDonnell”.  The Washington Post examines if McDonnell is the next Mark Warner.  The Roanoke Times reports that McDonnell is making a push to the center by gaining the support of moderate leaders.
