Republican Governors Discuss Red, White and Blue Solutions for America PDF Print
Dana Point, CA – At the first plenary session of the Republican Governors Association’s (RGA) Annual Conference, America’s Republican governors discussed innovative policy ideas with former Speaker Newt Gingrich. They discussed a range of issues that have the potential to transform government and show that governors are the policy innovators of the Republican Party.

“The Republican Governors Association is making sure that our governors have access to the brightest minds in America,” said RGA Executive Director Nick Ayers. “When our governors and their staffs have the ability to engage each other and leaders like Speaker Gingrich, it means good things for their states and the Republican Party.”

The plenary session, “Government Transformation: A Discussion Among Republican Governors” was the RGA’s latest event that showcased governors as the Republican Party’s policy leaders and the key to building momentum for the party. Earlier in the year RGA hosted its first ever Senior Staff Retreat that allowed the governors’ staff to gather and discuss the policy challenges and opportunities that their states face. The RGA also released the “Best Practices of Republican Governors” that details the most innovative ideas of the governors and shares them with their colleagues.

This year RGA’s belief that “good policy is good politics” was put to the test by voters and donors and received a positive result. RGA won two out of three races, picked up its first seat since 2004, and is out raising its Democratic counterpart by a two to one margin.
