Why RGA? We believe that the Republican Governors Association is the key to a political comeback for Republicans and to making sure that the best free-market, pro-growth, limited government ideas are implemented across the country. The last few years have been challenging for Republicans but despite the odds Republican Governors are leading the way and remain popular. Making sure Republicans control Governorships is the key to developing and implementing pro-growth policies and transforming government. Looking ahead to 2010 and 2012, the importance of regaining Governorships becomes even clearer. The 2010 state-level elections will determine Congressional and state legislative apportionment for the next ten years, and who is Governor of each state will be of utmost importance. A 25 seat Congressional swing is up for grabs as a result of state-wide elections. Governors are also instrumental to growing their state parties, and it will be enormously beneficial to Republicans in the 2012 nation-wide elections to have Republican Governors in key swing states, like Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania. RGA is also making sure that the policy experts for each Governor are getting to know each other and share their very best ideas. When you survey the nation for innovative ideas, you don’t find many coming from Washington, DC. But in our states you see tort reform, tax reform, and education and healthcare issues being tackled head-on. RGA provides first class events as well as easy to understand benefits and membership levels.
