REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS ARE SHAPING THE FUTURE OF OUR NATION

Across the nation, Republican Governors are applying conservative principles to create successful programs that serve as models for the rest of the nation.  Governors are also instrumental to growing their state parties, and it will be enormously beneficial to Republicans in the 2012 elections to have Republican Governors in states like Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. 

Determining Legislative Control in the Next Decade

The results of the 2010 elections will have a huge impact on politics as well as policy, because Governors and state legislatures will be redrawing legislative districts in the nation in 2011. In many states, Governors have tremendous influence in determining redistricting. 

As RNC Chairman going into the 1994 elections, I know full well the factors that went into our success. I cannot overstate the role our governors played in our ‘94 victories. All of us remember the House takeover -- what’s forgotten is that we went from 17 Republican governors to 30. That allowed us to build strong state parties around the country, and led to a decade of Republican control. Governors are again key to our comeback, and that’s why RGA is my top political priority between now and 2010.

There are two critical Governor elections in 2009, Virgina and New Jersey

There will be 36 critical gubernatorial elections in 2010.  RGA is taking steps to prepare for this important election year.
